Delete your Kynto Photo account

You can do this yourself without asking anyone. This page is deliberately readable without signing in, because you ought to be able to find out what deleting your account actually does before you go through with it.

How

Sign in at https://photo.kynto.eu, or open the Android app.
Go to Settings.
Scroll to Delete account and confirm.

If you can't sign in at all — say you've lost the password and the mailbox that went with it — email info@kynto.eu from the address on the account and I'll delete it for you.

Export first if you want your photos

Deleting takes the originals with it. Download anything you want to keep before you start, because there's no getting them back afterwards and I don't keep a copy for you.

What gets deleted

Your account: email address, password hash, language preference.
Your two-factor secret and backup codes, if you had them.
Every session, so any device still signed in is signed out.
Every photo and video, including the smaller renditions, from the storage servers.
The technical data taken from those files, including location.
Every face grouping and the mathematical descriptions behind it.
Your albums, favourites and descriptions.
Every share link you created. They stop working immediately.

What sticks around, and for how long

Backups — the servers get backed up so that one failure doesn't lose everybody's photos. A deleted account can survive in a backup until that backup ages out, which takes at most 30 days. Backups are encrypted, they aren't readable as a library, and I never use one to restore a single deleted account.
Server logs — ordinary web-server access logs with IP addresses and requested paths in them. Kept 30 days at most, for chasing security problems and abuse.
Records I'm legally required to keep — if you ever paid for anything, the invoices stay for as long as tax law says. Neither of us can waive that one.

How long it takes

The account and its data go the moment you confirm, and the files come out of storage as part of the same operation. The backup window above is the only thing that outlasts it.

Events are separate

If you organise events as well, those albums delete themselves on whatever date each event has — see the Kynto Events policy. Deleting your photo account won't automatically shut down an event your guests are still using.
